When skiing season comes to an end, guests at Villa Kastelruth can still enjoy great days on the snow participating in the Winter program offering skiguiding and snowshoe walks.

 

From the start of the hiking season three times a week our free hiking guide shows our guest the best peaks and meadows in the Dolomites.

 

Skiing in spring

When the first spring crocus sprouts through the snow cover and the winter splendour of the Seiser Alm glistens in the spring sun, passionate skiers once more really get going. The days are getting longer, the sun is gaining in strength and the mountain terraces and the pool of Villa Kastelruth invite you to a chilling day in the montains.

The Dolomiti Superski area offers perfectly prepared slopes and a unique skiing experience until the beginning of April. Whether you choose the “Witches circuit” on the Alpe di Siusi, the world-famous Sellaronda ski carousel, a comfortable ski day in the Val Gardena – Alpe di Siusi area or one of the many panorama cross-country trails, your day will surely be a great one! Mountain biking and cycling

Montainbike rides for everyone! The beautiful UNESCO World Natural Heritage of the Dolomites offers cycling options for of every level of difficulty. Expert cyclers as well as courageous families will appreciate the waste variety and possibilities. The Alpe di Siusi – Val Gardena area comprises over 33 marked cycling tracks for a total of 1,000 km and 35,000 vertical meters. The varying degrees of difficulty, length and elevation require different degrees of fitness and technique. For a bike ride or chilled family day, the town of Castelrotto and its surroundings also offer comfortable and scenic bike paths.

Equestrian tournament Oswald von Wolkenstein

At the end of May, the traditional Oswald von Wolkenstein equestrian tournament takes place in the area of Castelrotto and Völs. In this tournament of medieval origin teams of four compete against each other in four stages on the road from Ponte Gardena to Völs, where the race ends at Prösels Castle with the famous Torritt.

"Kastelruther Spatzen"

The “Kastelruther Spatzen” is South Tyrol’s most famous musical group. They have won many honours and awards for their German “Schlager-Musik”. As their name suggests, the group’s seven members, including lead singer Norbert Rier, all come from the town of Kastelruth and surroundings.

In June the Kastelruther Spatzen organize an open air concert in their home town Kastelruth. The event is one of the largest of its kind in South Tyrol and fix date for all fans of traditional German folk music.

Tradition

Religious festivals have always been important in South Tyrol and traditions and costumes are still lived in Kastelruth. For visitors they are a great way to get to know the country and the people and participate in their everyday life.
